I bought my Ford Focus back in 2005 and ever since day one the mp3 player would end tracks whenever it felt like it, sometimes it would eject the CD saying it was a ‘bad disc.’ I made several CDs to double check the problem. In fact, now that I think about it, it would eject any disc, even ones that came from major CD manufacturers.

I realized that it might be covered by warranty even at this late date, so I took it to the dealership nearest my apartment one morning at 7a. They told me to bring it back at about noon as the technician who works on mp3 players doesn’t come in until then. I called them that day around noon and they told me the technician works from 10a-12p.

So I took it to another dealership, they said to bring it in any morning after 7a, the earlier the better. So I brought my laptop with me and waited in the waiting room for about an hour after which they told me they’d have to order a new mp3 player. That arrived in a couple of days. So I went back one morning with my laptop (they had wifi in the snack room which was nice but you have to buy your own coffee) and they installed a brand new mp3 player.

This one seems to work better although it’s still cutting off tracks, at least on one of my CDs. I haven’t done a complete and thorough check, I figured they would have checked it out from top to bottom before installing it. Maybe they did. Today I recorded about 9 hours worth of material on a CD (actually I made two CDs with 9 hours of lectures on them each) and I’ll see what happens.
